Rike Park
Expats Land
A quiet oasis that offers refreshment and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Thanks to its greenery, stunning views, and modern architectural masterpieces, Rike Park has become a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.
Rike is within walking distance of the city's main attractions, so whether you're exploring the historic Old Town or heading to the modern districts of the city, Rike Park is the perfect place to take a break during your stroll.
History
By the beginning of the 20th century, most of the territory of the modern park was an island between the two channels of the Kura River, along which were located workshops, private houses, a market, and a caravan-serai. In the late Middle Ages, the left bank of the Kura was called Riket. In the 1920s, the right channel of the river silted up and dried up. In its place appeared Rike Street. However, due to frequent floods, the houses gradually collapsed, and the remaining ones were dismantled by the end of the 20th century.
The park was opened during the presidency of Mikheil Saakashvili in 2010, at the same time the Glass Bridge of Peace, the Music and Drama Theater, and the Exhibition Hall were installed.
Design and Landscape
The park perfectly combines modern aesthetics with natural beauty, creating a magical atmosphere for visitors. Neatly trimmed lawns, bright flower beds, and well-groomed hedges create a visually appealing background against the city skyline.
Rike Park is the perfect place for family fun - the park has many zones, including children's playgrounds, mini-golf, and a relaxation area. Children can play in open spaces, while parents can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Riverside
One of the features of Rike Park is the beautiful riverfront. The embankment stretches along the Mtkvari River and provides a picturesque trail for pedestrians and cyclists. Walking along the embankment, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the river, admire the architecture of the city, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Conclusion
Rike Park is a testament to the principles of urban planning in Tbilisi and the creation of green zones within the city. Its harmonious combination of modern design, natural beauty, and panoramic views makes it an excellent place for relaxation and a must-visit spot.
